Theory of Evolution

  • Proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859.
  • Evolution occurs through Natural selection.
  • Individual with traits better suited to the environment survive, reproduce, and pass on those traits.
  • Means organism best adapted to the environment.
  • Fittest doesn’t mean strongest but most suitable for survival.
  • Over generation, these traits become common in the population.
  • Involves human intervention to select and breed organism with desirable traits.
  • Example:- farmer breed plant and animals for size, yield  and colour. Etc.
  • Different vegetable like broccoli, cauliflower, evolved fro, wild cabbage.
  • This happened through artificial selection over generation by humans.
  • Evolution does not always means improvements or progress.
  • It means change with adaptation to environment.
  • A more evolved organism is not necessary more advanced.
