  • Indicate common ancestry.
  • Example:- human arm, bat wing, frog leg

Analogous organs:-

  • Different structure Same function.

Do not Indicate common ancestry. Example:- wings of insects and Wing of bird.

Fossils:-

  • Preserved remains or impression of ancient organism in rocks.
  • Helps in tracing the evolutionary history of organism.
  • Example

Ammonite:- extent marine mollusks

Trilobite:- extinct arthropods from ancient seas.

Dinosaur:- extinct reptiles, ancestors of birds.
