Theory of Evolution
Darwin theory of Natural selection:-
- Proposed by Charles Darwin in 1859.
- Evolution occurs through Natural selection.
- Individual with traits better suited to the environment survive, reproduce, and pass on those traits.
Survival of the fittest:-
- Means organism best adapted to the environment.
- Fittest doesn’t mean strongest but most suitable for survival.
- Over generation, these traits become common in the population.
Evolution by artificial selection:-
- Involves human intervention to select and breed organism with desirable traits.
- Example:- farmer breed plant and animals for size, yield and colour. Etc.
Wild cabbage example:-
- Different vegetable like broccoli, cauliflower, evolved fro, wild cabbage.
- This happened through artificial selection over generation by humans.
Evolution is not equal to progress
- Evolution does not always means improvements or progress.
- It means change with adaptation to environment.
- A more evolved organism is not necessary more advanced.
