Summary

summary
  • Life processes are activities needed to maintain life
  • Like nutrition, respiration, transportation, Excretion etc.
  • All these involves energy and maintenance of internal environment.
  • Nutrition:-are the process of taking food and converting into energy.
  • In plants use of sunlight, chlorophyll, water , co2 for Photosynthesis. (6CO2 + 6H2O —–> C6H12O6 + 6O2).
  • In animals:- Holozoic, saprophytic, Parasitic type of nutrition.
  • Human Digestion:- mouth —–> oesophagus —–> stomach —–> small intestine —–> large intestine —–> anus.
  • Respiration:- Breakdown of glucose to release energy. 1.) aerobic respiration:- with oxygen, more energy  2.) anaerobic respiration:- without oxygen less energy.
  • Nose—–>trachea—–>bronchi—–>lungs—–>alveoli
  • In humans:-
  • 🔷️Double circulation:-Pulmonary(heart to lungs) Systemic(heart to body).
  • 🔷️Blood:- RBC,WBC,PLATELETS and PLASMA
  • 🔷️lymph:- colourless fluid part of immune system.
  •  In plants:-
  • 🔷️xylem:- water and minerals,
  • 🔷️Phloem:- food via Translocation
  • 🔷️Transpiration:- helps pull water upwards.
  • in humans:-
  • kidney: filters urea from blood,
  • Nephron: functional unit of kidney, also through lungs (co2) and skin (sweat).
  • In plants:- less complex, wastes: O2, CO2, water, resins, gums etc. Removed by stomata, lenticels, and stored in old leaves or barks.
  • Kidney failure and dialysis :- When kidney stops working. DIALYSIS: artificially removal of wastes using a machine.
  • Kidney transplant:- May be needed for complete cure of kidney failure.
