Lesson 3 : Landforms and Life
Introduction to Landforms and Life
Land is the foundation of human life and culture. Across the Earth, land appears in different shapes and features, which we call landforms. These landforms not only shape the natural environment but also influence how people live, work, and interact with nature.
As you travel across India, for exampleβfrom the Chhota Nagpur plateau in Jharkhand, through the plains of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, to the mountains of Almora in Uttarakhandβyou encounter three very distinct landforms: plateaus, plains, and mountains. Each of these has its own importance, opportunities, and challenges.
Understanding landforms helps us see how they provide resources, shelter, agriculture, culture, and identity to human life.
